MAX_IO

I have read and been told that MAX_IO is 128k default on solaris. I have a
situation
where its possible that I have higher IO capicity than that. I recently
read in a posting
that across the sd device MAX_IO is 1MB. Is there any command line that I
can run
to calculate the MAX_IO for a given device on the system?

for those of you who are curious, I am dealing with a problem in Oracle
regarding
hash_multiblock_io count. If set to value 0 so Oracle will calculate the
necessary
count dynamically, given a query, and its based on 1 to a maxiumum of
MAX_IO / DB Block Size. Since the TEMP tablespace is directly involved with
this
activity the NEXT extent sizes need to sized according to the MAX_IO size.
Currently they are 128k extents, but if I'm able to do 1MB MAX_IO this would
explain the ORA-03232 errors I get when hash_multiblock_io_count is 0.

TIA
