Summary : Two NICs on same subnet

Thanks to the following people:
John Julian
Aaron Collosi
David Newton
Kevin Korb

Thanks for jogging my memory. To answer some inquiries, Sun by default
uses the same MAC address for NICs in the same subnet. The solution now
is to change the MAC address by using the following command:

#eeprom local-mac-address?=true

Having the same MAC on two NICs will confuse the switch which operates on
low-level routing.

Kevin Korb noted using secondary interfaces on one NIC. In my particular
case, we wanted to separate the traffic on two separate NICs serving heavy
web and SQL traffic. To use secondary address on the same NIC:
# ifconfig hme0:1 <address> .....

Thanks.

Rene
