SUMMARY: Solaris 8 x86 and Intel740 video card

        So, XFree86 Porting kit was the correct package to solve my issue.
        But it raised another one. The driver for Intel 740 (i740) board is
included in Porting kit version 4.0.3 without configuration file needed
to kdmconfig ! So I had to hack a conf file and then re-run kdmconfig.

        The best method I found to have the i740 support was :

        - Download Porting Kit v4.0.3
(http://soldc.sun.com/developer/support/driver/tools/video/xf86_drv_port_bin_403_3.tar.gz)
        
        - Download and install last X11 patches :
                108653, 108920, 108922, 108941, 109355, 109401
        - Provide configuration file to kdmconfig (put
                http://www.unikservice.com/frp/i740.xqa
                        into
                 /usr/X11R6/etc/devdata/SUNWaccel/boards/xf86/ )
        - reboot
        - run kdmconfig and choose XF86-I740 as device driver
