I've got 2 systems with nearly identical filesystems that I want to check out....I've got ssh on both of them....I'm looking for a way to compare file/dir perms and ownerships from one against the other & then report the differences (perhaps even an option to modify as well) - NOT THE DIFFERENCES OF THE CONTENT, I know of course how to do that, but perms & ownerships.
I can write one I know, but time is of the essence...I guess If I just had a little script that could just 'translate' the file permissions to an octal number for me, I could use that piece of code as the main engine & I could go from there.
