Greetings,
I have several E280's that I could do a console connect to in the normal
way through serial port A - one of the big D type serial sockets on the
back - using a standard serial connector cable. I am now overseas with said
boxes and assumed that I could use a cat 5 cable with cat 5 to little D
convertor on one end (going to serial port on a pc) and cat 5 to big D
convertor (going to port A on sun) on the other. But no joy.
If I unplug the cat 5 to big D convertor and connect directly to the serial
port on the supplied Remote System Console card, this works - i.e I get a
login prompt, but the RSC card is not yet configured, so I can't login on
that port.
The cat 5 to big D convertor was supplied with the E280's, so I was
expecting it to work ok, but I can't get console login on any of the E280's
through port A.
Any suggestions?
