dns (solaris 8)

Sorry if this is off topic, but you guys are the gurus and it does
involve Solaris to a small extent.

We are moving colocations this weekend, and want to make sure that our
domain names switch over as quickly as possible to the new IPs. Right
now we have 2 name servers running solaris 8 that have all the zone
records for our current site. At the new colocation we have 2 new name
servers with the records for the new site.

The idea is to, right before we move our servers (it's an all or nothing
shot), change the NS records associated with our domains at our
registrar. All queries should then be served from the new name servers
that have all the new IP info. if we need to switch back to the old
colo, we just switch the NS back.

This sounds fine, but I know that with DNS caching and stuff, it's
likely that it's going to be a pain. Has anyone else had experience
with this type of move? How can we ensure the fastest switchover and
how fast can we expect that to be?

Thanks, will summarize
