Definitive link speed/mode command?

I have a number of servers that have had their nic reset (on the fly) to 100fdx using ndd -set commands listed below. The appropriate lines have been added to /etc/system to retain the hardset after the next reboot. This will not take place for some time however, as they are currently in production.

I am getting conflicting info when trying to verify the nic is running at 100fdx. ndd /dev/hme link_mode/speed both return a value of 1 indicating it is running at 100fdx. However, dmesg returns the setting as 100hdx. Which is correct? Does dmesg retain the settings from the last reboot? If so, that makes sense as that is what they were running at prior to the change.

They are a variety of platforms ranging from e4500's to Ultra 60's and Solaris 2.6 to 2.8.

commands used to set 100fdx while server is up...

ndd -set /dev/hme adv_autoneg_cap 0
ndd -set /dev/hme adv_100fdx_cap 1
ndd -set /dev/hme adv_100hdx_cap 0
ndd -set /dev/hme adv_10fdx_cap 0
ndd -set /dev/hme adv__10hdx_cap 0

Thank you in advance.
