I have been trying to solve this on my own for a week now without success.
During the end of last month I started to get 84 (Media Write Errors) out
of the blue (and because of the 84 errors 213 when the media would be
frozen report problems then shut-down my robot). There were no patches
applied nor hardware/software nor has st.conf been modified since my
initial set-up in April. These tapes have not been used for anything but
Netbackup applications (if they have been used at all, I did place new
media in slots where DLT's were reported as "FULL" and duly added them to
the robot and software.
Still cannot backup.
To try to troubleshoot the problem I have:
* cleaned the drive
* boot -r
* tested the robot
* added new media
* compared inventories between the robot and inventory
Here is a typical problem's entry:
