directory check sum error

Gurus,

I made tar backup about 22 GB (in Solaris 8), and it was came with success
tar log output. But when I try to tar tvf those files, there are only 4
files (about 20 MB) come out with the error : tar : directory check sum
error. Actually what is happened with my backup files ?
