Dear Sun Managers,
I've a customise and secured Solaris 8 machine. We had
removed both the uucp and nuucp users in /etc/shadow
and /etc/password files.
During auditing, we discovered the following files are
still under uucp/nuucp ownership.
/var/adm/aculog
/usr/bin/tip
/usr/bin/uucp
/usr/bin/uuglist
/usr/bin/uuname
/usr/bin/uustat
/usr/bin/uux
/devices/obio/zs@0,100000:a,cu
/devices/obio/zs@0,100000:b,cu
I've check on this system, both packages SUNWbnur and
SUNWbnuu had already removed.
My questions are:
(1) What should be the rightful ownership for the
following files as uucp account had been removed?
/var/adm/aculog
/usr/bin/tip
/usr/bin/uucp
/usr/bin/uuglist
/usr/bin/uuname
/usr/bin/uustat
/usr/bin/uux
/devices/obio/zs@0,100000:a,cu
/devices/obio/zs@0,100000:b,cu
(2) Is it save to remove all the files that own by
uucp account?
(3) If removed, how can I use tip command next time?
(4) If I don't remove the above mentioned files, can I
change the user to root and any supported document for
that?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Amos
