Server is running Solaris 8 MU7 with the Nov 15 2002 recommended +security
patches.
We have been running Solaris for 2 years now. We used to be a VMS shop.
We managed to port our inhouse app from VMS to Solaris.
We have recently needed job queuing on our Solaris Box.
So we are using AT/CRON.
We normally have 300 queue entries created within 20seconds. Problem is
sometime we get "can't create a job for you" or "can't create a job for
you" this seems to be created when we have more than 400 entries.
So i placed a service call with sun and asked them "how many jobs can an
at queue hold". Sun's telling me that they don't know.
So I ask you:
1) How many jobs can i have in an at queue?
2) Have you ever run into a problem submitting lot's jobs at the same
time?
3) Although i would like to stay with the solaris 8 queue's, can you
suggest an alternative?
thanks
karl
