Hi folks,
we are shortly going to be doing a reshuffling of resources on a couple
of production boxes so I'd like you guys to go over our plans and see
if you can spot any hazards/gotchas etc.

Our current setup is:
One E5500 with two Photon A5200 Disk arrays attached.
Loop A and B are configured as single loop on both arrays.
Volume manager is Disksuite 4.2.1 (inc. root disks)
AP version 2.3.0 used for disks and 2 FDDI network connections to LAN

One E450 with one D1000 attached.
Volume manager is Disksuite 4.2.1 (inc. root disks)

We want to change the config by removing the D1000 from the E450 and
connecting the 2 Photons to both servers.
We want to install VxVM for the non root disks and keep Disksuite for the
root disks.
The E450 will act as a backup server for the E5500. The VxVM diskgroups
from the E5500 will be vximported onto the E450 in the event of failure of
the
E5500.

High Level Steps Required:
1) Remove AP 2.3.0 from E5500. (Reason VxVM requires AP v2.3.1 if AP
installed)
     - metaclear non root metadisks.
     - edit /etc/vfstab to mount filesystems on non metadisks

2) Deconfigure Disksuite from non root disks on both servers.
    - metaclear remaining metadisks

3) Install VxVM and configure rootdg on spare slice of root disks.

4) Connect both Photons to both servers.

5) Configure Photon disks on both servers with VxVM.

6) Install AP 2.3.1 and setup AP for FDDI LAN cards only on E5500.

The steps above are very high level but should give enough of an idea of
what will
be involved.

Many thanks in advance for any tips/advice/suggestions etc etc

Thanks again.
