timestamp

I have an Ultra 60 running Solaris 8, and NFS mounting a
Filesystem from a 4500 running 2.6.

A number of files created in this filesystem have a strange appearance
when I run ls -l - or even if I do a find with -ls,
the timestamp is "Dec 9 2002"

I was under the impression that ls will display the year if the file is older
than
six months, and will display the time if newer.

The reason I am asking is we are having a problem with an application
and I wonder if this is a sign of serious system problem, which may resolve
my applications issue.

Thanks
Seth
