Hi Memory Utilization

Hi Managers,

I have been given the administration of a sun box (Solaris 5.7) today
as users were experiencing slow performance. Coming from pure HP and Tru64
Unix background I am really finding it difficult to troubleshoot the high
memory utilization in that box. The tool I used is Glance and it showed that
98% of the total memory is always being used. There are two Oracle instances
running on this server and ipcs -am shows total 4.5G of memory is occupied
by Oracle as shared memory segment.

Ps -ael doesn't show any user (except 547 oracle connections each taking
around 300MB) having big memory chunk allocated.

Total RAM is 10G and disk swap is 4G.

One thing Glance showed me that 3.5 G of memory is used as a pseudo swap. Is
the pseudo swap concept is same as in HP?

Please can you guys help me to troubleshoot who is eating up all the memory?

Let me know if I need to provide any more info.

Thanks and I'll summarize.

Ashish Tripathi
