Compaq Proliant ML370 running Solaris 8

Is anyone running Intel Solaris 8 on a Compaq Proliant ML370? The hardware is
certified, but when the system tries to load the Adaptec Ultra160 Device
Driver, for some strange reason it hits the Exabyte tape drive and hangs the
system (it only hangs the system if a tape is in the tape drive). I'm using
the latest version of the cadp160 (ver. 1.21) driver and both the ML370 and
the Exabtye tape drive are certified to run Solaris 8.

If a tape is in the exabyte when the system is rebooting, the system goes into
the Hardware Configuration Screen. Hitting F2 to continue, the system hits
the tape drive and hangs while attempting to load the cadp160 driver. If no
tape is in the exabtye the system seems to work fine (including the exabtype)
except the system will pause for 7 - 10 seconds. But, I'm thinking these two
problems are related. I'm currently working with Compaq Tech Support, but
they are investigating the problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
John
