How to auto change user password

Dear Sun Managers,

I need some help on the following questions. I've an
E10K machine running
Solaris 2.6.

(1) I need to auto-change the password of a userid
using a shell script. However, password command is
always prompting to enter the password.
How can I overcome this without human interruption?
 
(2) Is there a software to generate random characters
for use in the script to create password?
