Q: e250<-->e450 Identity Transplant Swap "doable" ?

Hi All,

Possibly an absurd sounding question, but potentially one with a simple
& fast answer.

I'm curious if anyone has done a "personality transplant" of an e250
onto an e450 via drive swap, ie,

-assuming all OS slices installed on a single drive, no mirroring / HW
raid / etc.. issues.

-touch /.reconfigure, shutdown the e250

-pop that drive into the e450 (as the only drive in the machine), bring
it up, watch the sparks fly as devices are configured.

ie, can I reasonably expect the OS and user apps to more-or-less
transparently migrate onto the new hardware? The only reason I even
begin to consider such a thing is that the vintage of the gear is
identical ; many parts are similar (CPUs, memory) - the biggest
difference is the ## of CPUs present in the 2 systems (plus of course
more physical drive expansion room in a 450, which is a non-issue in
this kind of case I think?)

I'm asking b/c I've got a sunray server running on an e250 right now,
and it is starting to reach the CPU-use-saturation point. If I can just
drop the config into a 450, it would be quite lovely. However, this
might be total lunacy, in which case attempting it with anything but a
spare drive clone would be ... not prudent ... :-)

Any comments / feedback are certainly greatly appreciated...

Thanks!
