We are working in a project in which we want to connect several Sun Netra
AC200, running Solaris 8 to an XP512 storage (the HP OEM version of the HDS
Lightning 9660). We intend to use for connection a 16port Brocade switch
2GB/sec (SilkWork 3800) so - fabric mode.
We would like to use JNI cards, which is our standard in all the other
servers, but we are unsure if any of the following cards below are supported
in Netra AC200 or Netra T1 105:
JNI FCE 6410
JNI FCE2 6410
JNI FCE 6412
JNI FCE2 6412
JNI FCE 6460
JNI FCE 1473
There is a compatibility matrix on JNI web site but the only Netra listed is
the much bigger 1405 model.
Netra AC200 is much more compact in size, the PCI slot is 33MHz/32 bit (If I
do not confuse with T1 105 model), and might have restrictions in cooling
and the power supplied to the PCI card.
Did anyone of you had any experience using JNI cards in those Netra's ?
2 years ago I put a Sun HSI card in an Netra T1 105 altough was explicitly
listed as not supported in Sun Configurator, and the machine ran without a
hitch since. But I know is not without a reason a card is not supported in a
server, so I don't want to make a habit from going against vendor
specifications. (at least for the reason it will be easy for the support
representative to dismiss my case as not supported configuration in case of
trouble).
