DLT8000 slower than a DLT7000 ?

Dear Sunmanagers,

Recently we installed a DLT8000 with lastest firmware on a E3500 with
Solaris 2.6. We used the SCSI-SE available HBA where the DLT7000 used to
work for years. We tested the DLT8000 unit with ufsdump and a specific
backup software and the DLT8000 was about 30% slower than the DLT7000. The
E3500 runs Solaris 2.6 with recommended patches almost uptodate. We
obtained a copy of the operating system disk and tested the DLT8000 and
DLT7000 in another E3500 and the DLT8000 was a bit faster than the DLT7000
which agrees with the manuals specifications (i.e. the DLT8K isn't much
faster than the DLT7K). We modified the st.conf according the DLT8K manual
and the xfer rates didn't improved noticeably.

We have no idea what the thingns are wrong in the productive E3500. Any
ideas, clues or jokes will be of help.

Many thanks in advance,

- Andris.
