Hi Sun Managers,

I got this strange problem. I hope all you gurus can
help.

I put in a IDE disk from another Ultra 10 into a Ultar
10.
When I boot my SUN Ultra 10, 440Mhz (Solaris 2.6)

I get the following error when booting:

------------------------
Boot Device: disk:a File and args:
SUNOS Release 5.6 Version Generic-105181-10
Configuring network interface: hme0
Hostname:xxxxx
/usr/sbin/swap getexecname() failed
mount: /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 is not this fstype
mount: /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s6 is not this fstype
libthread panic: _sys_thread_create(): alloc_thread
returns 0 .......
dumping core (PID ...)
...
Abort
mount: /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s3 is not this fstype
setmnt: Error: deprecated utility
....
INIT:failed write of utmpx entry: " "
INIT:SINGLE USER MODE
type ctrl-d to proceed with normal startup
(or give root password for system maintenance):
---------------------------------

Other info:
I went to Single user mode and found the files / and
/usr mounted read only.
trying to remount rw always get the error:-

"mount: /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 is not this fstype"

All the partition are giving the same error.

I can run fsck on /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0sx and there were no
problems .

I booted from CDROM and was able to mount the
partition rw and change the
files.
I am not using any volume manager.

I tried copying the /dev and /devices from the CDROM
using tar and untar but it produces a slightly
different message but the result is still the same.
Does Anyone know how to recover from this error beside
doing a repartion and newfs ?

I searched the web and sun mangers mailing list
archive but found no good solution.

Please email me and I will sumarise.

Regards
