pkgadd broken

Hi Managers,

After unsuccessfully trying to install the Sun One App Server 7 on two E-450's
under Solaris 8, I found that pkgadd is broken.

I'm not sure if the app installation did the damage or the installation of some
required patches immediately before the install.

The patch install before the app install worked fine.

No matter what package I try to install now I get a message like the following
in the log file:

Processing package instance <SUNWxwacx> from
</mydisk/J2SE_Solaris_8_Recommended/108652-61>
ld.so.1: /usr/sadm/install/bin/pkginstall: fatal: relocation error: file
/usr/sadm/install/bin/pkginstall: symbol get_ABI_namelngth: referenced symbol
not found

Anybody seen this before or have a suggestion on how to repair this?

Neither ld.so.1 in /usr/lib or the binaries of pkgadd and pkginstall seem to
have changed based on their dates, so I'm not sure where the problem is coming
from.

Thanks,

Rick
