CVS on Solaris 8

Recently migrated our CVS repository (cvs 1.10.8 due to 1.11.2 issues) from linux to Solaris and I'm having issues.

rtags that used to take approximately 1.5 minutes are now taking 10-15 minutes.

I'm noticing that the Solaris CVS is using less memory than the Linux version -- I'm also noticing really high iowait during the rtag (or any CVS process), however I can't find a hardware reason for this iowait. Disk utilization is high, but is NOT reaching max capacity (usually staying below 60% busy) -- network packets during the rtag are staying WELL under 100 packets per second -- there is no paging happening (and frankly there is almost NO swap being used, with almost a Gig of real memory being unused.)

if anyone has/is running CVS on Solaris and has tuning / performance suggestions I'd appreciate hearing them. I can send you any additional/more specific information that you might need.
