Thanks to Steven, Colin and Jez. They all like the Filers they use. It
seems they are every bit as good as NetApp claim. No body said anything
rude about them.

We're running several Oracle DBs on a filer - have been for a couple of
months now. We do keep some control files and a redo log local.
Performance
wise, at LEAST as good as DAS (across gigabit ethernet of course)
Backing up the DBs is a pleasure using snapshots :) All in all, I reckon
they're as good as NetApp say they are

We run an Oracle database on Sun using a Netapps F820. We have not had
any problems with this. All of Oracle is on th Netapps. Seems quite fast
and our DBA's or users have not complained.

Yes, we use Oracle databases mounted on a clustered pair of Netapp F740s
We use a mixture of Solaris 7 and 8, on various boxes (E420, Netra T1,
Netra
X1)
This setup works really well for us, as the filers give you the
opportunity
to snapshot the database files instantly.
AFAIK (I'm not the DBA) we split some of the control files/redo logs
between
local partitions and the filers
