Hi,
We are having Solaris 8 on SPARC machines (Sun
Blade 100, Sun Ultra 10 , Sun E450, Sun Fire V880 ).
We have been building our applications using written
in C/C++ using gcc compilers and tcl/tk. We have been
using them without any hassles till recently when we
have applied the latest Recommended and Security
patches set released by SUN on some of the systems.
When we build our application on these systems, though
it appears to have built the application perfectly
fine, it gives out an error when we run the built
applications : ld.so.1 : Relocation error : Couldn't
find symbol xxxx ..... The same application is running
perfectly fine when built on some other systems which
have an older version of patch level (specifically
saying the linker patch 109147 is of the version 12 on
these systems and the kernel patch at level
108528-13). The linker patch version on the systems
where latest patches have been updated is 20 and
kernel patch is 108528-16. We also had some other
systems with the linker patch version levels 16 and
18, but they too had this problem. Can this problem be
due to this linker patch levels or something else? Can
someone please suggest me a solution to this problem?
