I can't seem to find an equation on how much disk space is "lost" to
parity when running an A1000 with 36GB disks under raid 5. My plan is to
get an A1000, run it under raid 5, but keep one disk as a hot spare and do
nightly dumps of my OS disk to one of the other disks in the A1000 for
bare metal recovery. How much space will I have if I have a raid 5 volume
of 10 36GB disks? I need to make a presentation tomorrow for disk needs
and I need a good ballpark figure.
