Hello Managers:
I apologize if this is a little off topic. I am trying to
come up with a SB2000 configuration for a customer. I am stumbling when
it comes to available archiving options.
This will be a small (1 cpu, 4GB memory, 1-73GB Drive system) used
primarily for analysis of MRI images using an application dedicated to
this task. We have several SB1000's used in a different area. Each
SB1000 is equipped with (among other things) an internal Panasonic
LF-D201 DVD-RAM w/SCSI interface, providing 4.7GB storage/side, up to
9.4GB total. We use BakBone's MagnaVault drivers. It has worked out
extremely well the media being: stable, portable, good capacity, etc. A
couple of years pass and our supplier tells us that this drive is no
longer available and he cannot find any manufacturer that offers DVD-RAM
w/SCSI interface. Other (less attractive) options that I have looked at
are a CD burner and 4mm tape. The CD burner is ok from ease of use and
portability, but not great from a capacity standpoint. At this point
tape would be my last option. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
I will summarize.

Thanks
Dave
