[Q] does their has way to check tape cartridge write protect?

We have several tape drivers with SUN SPARC computer (Solaris 8). I can use
"mt -f /dev/rmt0 rewind" to check tape cartridge inside tape driver. Does
their has way to check tape cartridge is write protect?
