Replicating my NIS server.

Dear Managers,

I am thinking about replicating my Master NIS server(which also runs our
license server, sendmail etc) onto another machine. The master is on a
Sparc Station-20(and i plan to replicate this onto another SS20). I hope
to be able to quickly recover from a hardware failure by doing this.

Right now, i am installing the machine using Jumpstart and then plan to
manually copy all the necessary config files. The problems i see with
this are

1. Missing some important config files.
2. Labor intensive(not really..)
3. Wondering if there is an "easier" method.

Some of the questions i had

1. If i dont run a "ypinit -m", but simply copy all /var/yp/* files to my
"replica" server, will it actually come up as a Master NIS
server later. Will my slave server, accept maps from this machine, if the
original master dies.

2. Do you think i should jumpstart my replica server into single user
mode.
Then format the disk to wipe it out, mount to /mnt.
Copy all / and /var files from my Master NIS server.
Change /etc/hosts, /etc/hostname.hme0/le0, /etc/nodename, /etc/net/*/hosts
Copy bootblk from master to replica.(both are SS-20)
Reboot.

Your input is invaluable and will be much appreciated.
I will summarize.

Thanks,
