To all,
Lot of thanks for solving my problem. Especially to,
Adam Kirby
Casper Dik
Darren Dunham
Paul Clayton
Steudten Thomas.
Problem:-
-------------------------------------------------------------------
I have configured Solaris8 on my system
'SunOS dusun3 5.8 Generic_108528-07 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-5_10'. When I
restarting the system, I faced with the message:-
" Do you wish to configure this system as an SSP for
an E1000? (y/n) "
Is there any way to get rid off such type of message? What is an 'SSp
for an E1000'? Waiting for your kind advice.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Solution:-
------------------------------------------------------------------
An SSP is a system service processor - a machine that 'controls an
E10000'. I expect that you have installed the SSP packages by mistake
and
now the machine is asking whether you want to configure this software.
I suggest that you answer no to the above question and remove all the
SSP
packages from your machine. On my Solaris 8 SSP I have the following SSP
packages installed :
# pkginfo | grep ssp
application SUNWsspdf System Service Processor Data Files
application SUNWsspdo System Service Processor Domain Utilities
application SUNWsspdr System Service Processor Dynamic
Reconfiguration Utilities
application SUNWsspfp System Service Processor Flash Prom Image
application SUNWsspid System Service Processor Inter-Domain
Networking
application SUNWsspmn System Service Processor On-Line Manual Pages
application SUNWsspob System Service Processor Open Boot Prom
Utilities
application SUNWsspop System Service Processor Core Utilities
application SUNWssppo System Service Processor POST Utilities
application SUNWsspr System Service Processor, (Root)
application SUNWsspst System Service Processor Scan Tests
application SUNWsspue System Service Processor User Environment
application SUNWuessp Sun Enterprise 10000 SSP 3.4 Collection
In normal circumstances (without an E10000) you will not need any of
these.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanking you again,
Manoj Jha.
