Has anyone tried to use the clone method in the Veritas boot disk
Blueprint?
I'm running into some troubles with it.
The method appears to assume that the disk will remain under veritas
control, and uses a subdisk to take all the the space so it cannot be
allocated for other uses.... Fine.
It then uses a script to copy all the data. The script uses fmthard to
create slices in the right spot. However, I'm unable to get the fmthard
stuff in the script to operate.
fmthard seems to not allow two slices to overlap unless at least one of
them begins at cylinder 0.
Neither root nor the veritas public region start at cylinder 0, and
attempting to introduce the root position to the disk with fmthard
generates an error message.
fmthard: Partition 0 overlaps partition 4. Overlap is allowed
only on partition on the full disk partition).
Even that error is not quite correct. It will apparantly allow overlaps
on any partition as long as cylinder 0 is involved.
I imagine that I'm not the only person trying this, so I wonder what I'm
missing. Is there any secret option to fmthard to say "I know!!! I
don't care if it overlaps!"?
I tried hunting around with options and I found it can take a -u option,
but it's undocumented, and I couldn't find any change in behavior with
it.
It also takes an undocumented -q which appears to be a 'quiet' option.
