Greetings,
Since October 3 several (at least 5) of our Solaris 7 servers have had
authentication problems with nscd. On most of these systems authentication of
both local and NIS+ accounts have failed. On at least one NIS+ still worked
but local authentication failed. On another local authentication worked but
NIS+ authentication failed.
In each case we've killed and restarted nscd (sometimes we've had to do this
via dropping to the OK prompt and rebooting). Once nscd has been stopped and
started all seems okay again.
Has anyone else had this experience recently? None of these systems have
undergone any OS level changes recently and they have been at different patch
levels.
Any insight anyone can provide regarding this will be greatly appreciated.
