Problems Patching Solaris 7 on Ultra 5

I purchased a used Sun Ultra 5 to set up a home test lab for work. I
installed additional RAM (now 384MB). I then installed Solaris 7 on
the box and everything seemed to be fine so I proceeded to install
several packages, Bash 2.05, gzip, unzip and top. After that I proceeded
to install the Recommended Patch Cluster for Solaris 7 (7_Recommended).
After installing the Patch Cluster it says it is necessary to reboot
the box for all patches to take effect. Only problem is when I reboot
the box it goes to the Open Boot prompt and gives the error:

     Rebooting with command: boot
Boot device: disk:a File and args:
krtld: error during initial load/link phase
panic - boot:exitto64 returned from client program
     Program terminated
     ok

So I entered boot -a at the ok prompt and just accepted the default options
with the following results:

     Rebooting with command: boot -a
Boot device: /pci@1f,0/pci@1,1/ide@3/disk@0,0:a File and args: -a
     Enter filename [kernel/sparcv9/unix]:
Enter default directory for modules [/platform/SUNW,Ultra-5_10/kernel
/platform/sun4u/kernel /kernel kernel /usr/kernel]:
krtld: error during initial load/link phase
panic - boot: exitto64 returned from client program
     Program terminated
     ok

I then do a boot -a and change the kernel file to the original kernel/unix
(see below)and the system appears to boot fine.

     Rebooting with command: boot -a
Boot device: /pci@1f,0/pci@1,1/ide@3/disk@0,0:a File and args: -a
     Enter filename [kernel/sparcv9/unix]:kernel/unix

I have replaced the hard drive suspecting that the original one was dieing,
but continue to get the same results. I have reinstalled the OS multiple
times, tried using different patch clusters all of which were downloaded
from Sun's BigAdmin site.

Any ideas of what I might be able to do?

Thanks in advance!!!

Dean
