Network Problem

Hi,

I have Solaris 2.6 on Ultra 5. This machine went partially out of the network without any errors.

I can telnet to this machine from my desktop. but from this machine another sun machines and few other desktops( not all) are not pingable. All these machines are in same Subnet.

Network Admin says that nothing wrong in network as such; problem is in Unix itself.

I checked /etc/hosts, /etc/netmasks, /etc/hostsname.hme0 everything is fine. It is not having NIS, not TCP wrapper or SSH.

The only weirdness about it is the ifconfig output shows ether 0:0:0:0:0:0 for which I set local-mac-address?=true , rebooted , but same problem exists.

Why the machine can not ping to only few sun machines and windows machines in network which are in the same subnet.?Is it a Sun machine problem or Network problem? Any clues are welcome

Thanks

Sandip
