Many thanks to all of you for your responses. However, the problem still
exists while I have confirmed the following suggestions to be operating
properly:
1) Ypwhich confirms the correct server the client is bound to.
2) Ypcat auto.home and auto.master displays the right files from the
server.
3) Cat auto_home and auto_master displays the correct info from the
local machine.
4) Yppasswd displays the user name and its folder location. The folder
itself does exist on the server and I have checked the permission as well.
5) Automountd is running on the client machine.
6) There are no automount failure errors in the Messages log in
/var/adm.
7) I have deleted the .dt directory and .dtprofile on the local machine
that was recreated after reboot.
8) nsswitch.conf file has correct entries as automount: files nis
Let me point out again, the same user account does work on any other machine
with out any problem so what ever it is, is wrong with the machine and not
with the user.

I have NIS client setup on a machine running Solaris 8. When I try to login
with a server based user account, an error message pops up saying " unable
to access home directory. Click OK to start a Failsafe session, or Cancel to
restart login ". While if I try to login using local Root or any other local
account, it works on this machine. If I use the same server based user
account on any other machine it works fine.
Help please.......
