Syslog services won't start after ip change...Help!

Here is the problem...

I have an Enterprise 450 on Solaris 2.6 that needed to be moved to a new
network. These are the steps I followed.

Removed the dns entry on our local dns server. (it is moving to a new one)
Verified the new entry in the new dns server
Did boot -s
Saved .orig copies of all the files listed below.

Did ifconfig hme0 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx netmask 255.255.0.0 (was previously on a
private network with class c)
vi /etc/default router changed to the new router
vi /etc/hosts removed old ip and added the new.
vi /etc/resolv.conf changed to the new domain
vi /etc/netmasks Changed to the new class b

Now the system will not complete the boot process. It will not come all the
way up to multiuser mode.
The point at which it hangs is "starting syslog services" It simply never
completes past this point.

We can ping it at its new ip and hostname but no telnet.

Any help would be appreciated asap. I would like to not have to spend the
rest of the night here. :)
