Connecting a modem with a Netra for dialout?

Hello, all. I'm trying to connect a standard modem (USR Courier) to a
Sun Netra (T105) to do dial-out paging notification. Can't seem to
get the bloody thing to connect so I can test it using AT commands on
/dev/tty/b, however.

Using the standard sun terminal adapter and cat5 cable -- where am I
going wrong?
