Hy Managers

I couldn't get my HP 4mm DDS 4 DAT Autoloader to work under Solaris 8.
It seams that the OS has recognized the device including the
autoloader but if I install the Backupsoftware (BEB Brightstore Enterprise
Backup Edition for Sun Solaris, inquiry string C5713A) it recognize only
the device itself without autoloader.

any help and suggestions realy welcome, will summarize...

tia bernd

detailed problem description and what i have done:

-- I installing Core Sun Solaris 8 on Sparcstation 5 with latest
        recommended Cluster
-- Autoloader is HP DAT 4mm DDS4 40x6e it means this are two devices:
Part numbers include C5716A and C5717A > SCSI Inquiry String is
        C5713A
-- Checking for free SCSI ID's:
-- Result: SCSI ID 3 is the only one which is not free (0 is also not free
        Motherboard)
-- Removing device files:
        # rm /dev/rmt/*
        # touch /reconfigure
-- Halt the Server
        # init 5
-- Set SCSID from DAT 40x6e to 5 (default value)
-- Set Autoloader Switch from 7 to 5 (5 recommended by HP for Sun Server)
-- Set Jumpers for Sun OS "ON ON ON ON ON ON OFF OFF ON" (descriped in HP
        handbook)
-- Connect DAT 40x6e with SCSI cable to server
-- Switch on the DAT 40x6
-- Starting Server
-- Server will reconfigure devices
-- controll in /var/adm/message
        # cat /var/adm/messages

in "st.conf" is written it will not need configuration if I have to
to somme configurations. In the archive from SunManagers there are
several docus but unfurtunatly there is no "Summary" which
