Unique MAC addresses on hme, etc

I have seen (in messages on this list and in other documentation) that the
le, be, and hme interfaces on Sun do not have unique MAC addresses.
However, I have systems that use the eri and hme cards in a multipath setup.
In order to make the multipath configuration work it is necessary to enable
unique local mac addresses via the local-mac-address? variable in OBP. When
I do this, the hme interface is the one whose MAC address changes as
compared to when local-mac-address? is set to false. If the hme does not
have its own MAC address, why does it change from what matches the hosts ID
to something else when I change the value of the local-mac-address?
variable? It would seem to me that the eri interface would change.

What am I missing?

As always, I'll summarize, because I'm sure I'm not the only one that
doesn't know the answer.

Thanks,
Todd Urie
