Problems with CDE after IP change??

Solaris 2.7 on a SUN Ultra2. This machine has 2 ethernet ports. one LAN
192.168.1.3, one WAN. I switched the IP of the WAN interface hme1 by
changing the IP in the hosts file. I corrected /etc/defaultrouter to the
proper gateway. I touched up resolve.conf and did init 6. The machine is
very unhappy. It gives some rather normal boot messages and goes to the
CDE login. after I log in, it takes FOREVER to post a file manager
window and goes no further, there is no background or console. I managed
to get a terminal window. route -n get default replied 0.0.0.0 not in
table. So, i force route add default 151.203.141.129 and got some level
of connectivity going. With some work it gets communicating. Big problem
is that after about 1/2hour, I get a new log in. It doesn't reboot, just
goes back to log in, I think? Anybody got a clue for a an occasional SUN
Manager? Here's the rub. This precipitated from a very non-timed switch
in ISP's. So, at the moment I can't get replies, I need to wait for DNS
propagation. Wish me luck!!
