turning passv on with solaris 8 ftp client

Greetings,

        We have a need to turn on passv from the solaris 8 ftp client. I can't
seem to find a way to do this. On our vms server I just enter "passive"
and the ftp works fine. However, we need this solaris server to be able to
do it also.
