Hello,
I have an Ultra 2 machine, which has 3 9.1GB hard drives connected to it. I
am trying to create a RAID 5 volume out of the 3 disks and then install
Solaris 9 on it.
I initially thought it was possible to install Solaris on the first disk and
then convert it into a RAID 5 volume using Solaris Volume Manager. However, a
Solaris Volume Manager Administration Guide states: "Do not create a RAID 5
volume from a component that contains an existing file system. Doing so will
erase the data during the RAID 5 initialization process", so creating a RAID 5
volume after the OS is installed is not an option.
I was wondering if there is any other way to implement a Solaris installation
on a RAID 5 volume.
Regards,
Eugene
