files in /dev missing causing dmesg to fail

hello!

I have a "titaned" Solaris 8 installation where the dmesg command cannot be
executed. dmesg fails with the following error message:

# dmesg
/dev/fd/3: /dev/fd/3: cannot open
#

I am not surprised since /dev/fd does not exist.

I can see in /var/sadm/install/contents that /dev/fd should be installed in
package SUNWcsd. I can also see the files /dev/stdin, /dev/stdout and
/dev/stderr should be symbolic links to /dev/fd/? but they are non-existent
too.

I have not rebooted the machine since it is in production.

Everything seems to be working just fine except for dmesg, but I want to be
sure this won't lead to really big problems later on.

I will summarize.

/jonas
