Dear all
I need some idea for configuring RAID-5 volumes
in Veritas Volume manager/solaris 8/sunfire v880.
I've six nos. of 36gb internal,fc-al dual-port
hdds, among these six,one is the root disk.
I need to create 10 nos of 4gb vxfs filesystems(.I've
not encapsulated the rootdisk.) considering the
following factors.

1.maximum free disk space is required for future use.
2.redundancy of data at any time.(in RAID-5).

**What is the significance of log plex in RAID-5
volumes.
**How,in absence of the logplex, will i be able to
start my volumes and use.
**what harm does it make to my RAID-5 volume,if i
start it,when one of the disk is failed in the RAID-5
volume configuration,using
"vxvol start " with " -o unsafe" option,as it is said
in one of the vxvm manual that it would make my volume
unusable.

Thanks in advance.

Jaik.
