I have installed a SunPCi 1.3 on an Ultra 5. I have loaded win2kpro and =
am having an annoing problem.
whichi is duing a DNS lookup I have a failure. Routing appears to be =
correct as I can http: to a specific address with out any problems. But =
by using snoop I see the at the resultant respose is as follows.
>From the sunpci 172.17.1.4->
sunpci -> 64.46.144.5 DNS C ns1.delvalley.net. Internet Addr ?
64.46.128.1 -> sunpci ICMP Time exceeded (in transit)
sunpci -> 64.46.144.6 DNS C ns1.delvalley.net. Internet Addr ?
fw -> * ARP C Who is 172.17.1.4, sunpci ?
sunpci -> 64.46.144.5 DNS C ns1.delvalley.net. Internet Addr ?
sunpci -> fw ARP R 172.17.1.4, sunpci is 8:0:20:cf:43:63
64.46.128.1 -> sunpci ICMP Time exceeded (in transit)
64.46.128.1 -> sunpci ICMP Time exceeded (in transit)
>From the workstation 172.17.1.2 ->
kerby.delvalley.net -> ns1 ICMP Echo request (ID: 1990 Sequence =
number: 0)
ns1 -> kerby.delvalley.net ICMP Echo reply (ID: 1990 Sequence =
number: 0)
fw -> * ARP C Who is 172.17.1.2, =
kerby.delvalley.net ?
kerby.delvalley.net -> fw ARP R 172.17.1.2, =
kerby.delvalley.net is 8:0:20:cf:43:63
The only thing off the wall so to speak is that I am using a Linux =
firewall masqurading the network behind it.
The Ultra 5 works correctly in all respects, including DNS.
Regards, Jeffrey Ehrenkrantz
