csh script works differently than interactive csh

We're experiencing the following error condition on our UNIX
systems running Solaris 2.6 and 2.8:

-----
The following error is being generated by the Framemaker fmprint
function (converts a MIF or Framemaker file to PDF) ONLY while in a
batch (csh script) mode. Interactively, it works fine. Once the error
in encountered, if leaves a /tmp/mif2pdf.fm.lck file in place which
prevents subsequent conversions to complete successfully.

/usr/Frame5/bin/fmprint -p /tmp/mif2pdf.fm
EC-012840_80971028453-049@M-SH1
starting maker ...
maker: Using /usr/Frame5/fminit
maker: Starting FrameMaker 5.5.3. Copyright (c) 1986-1997 Adobe Systems
Incorporated.
fmbatch: unable to raise Frame; exiting.

----
What could be the difference in a csh script and a interactive csh?
We've set the same environment variables?
Any help in this area is appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark
