tcp_conn_hash_size

I searched the archives but cannot find a SUMMARY for questions regarding
tcp_conn_hash_size.

What are the general rules for setting this value on busy server?
I have an assumed formula which I assume will work, but would like
clarification from anyone who knows more:
tcp_conn_hash_size = 1 x "number of TCP connection in any state"
Thus is the number of connections at the peak of traffic was 2000, I'd set
tcp_conn_hash_size to 2000.

Is it correct to assume a value of 1 for each network connection?

Most importantlym how do I work out how much memory will be used by
whatever setting I choose for my systems?
I'm making an assumption of:
  1kb x tcp_conn_hash_size
  (eg 1Mb for a tcp_conn_hash_size value of 1024)

Any advice is appreciated!
