As for the resolution to the problems, part
1 of my question
has been fixed in SSH 3.2 (commercial)
Part 2, you will need to modify the
following line in sshd2_config
from:
# SyslogFacility LOCAL7
# SyslogFacility LOCAL7
# SftpSyslogFacility LOCAL7
to:
SyslogFacility AUTH
# SyslogFacility LOCAL7
SftpSyslogFacility AUTH
and add the following to /etc/syslog.conf
auth.notice /var/log/authlog
You could send it to any file you would like
to instead of authlog
