I'm installing Intel Solaris 2.5.1 on a server from my original Solaris CDs.
I currently have another Solaris 2.5.1 system that is fully patched. I'd
prefer not to have to re-install all of the past patches. So, my question is,
after I install Solaris from the CD, can I simply restore /var from my fully
patched system backup to the new system and get all of the patches? Then do a
reconfigure boot and my new system would be fully patched.
This sounds too easy, so it probably won't work. Does anyone know if this
will work for me?
