Hi All,
I just got a brand new SUNFire 280R with UltraSparc III processors.
I don't have a graphical console/keyboard for it so I connected a serial
ASCII terminal.
I connected the server to the LAN on hme0.
After power on I get the following message on the ASCII terminal/console:
...
configure /devices
fsck /tmp/devices/pci@... failed
re-preinstall need to be rerun
program terminated
ok here it stops with the ok prompt
ok boot I type boot here and I get
config /devices
config /dev
hme0 no response from ethernet
link down, cable problem ... though I have a valid network connection on
hme0
checking net ...
found install server fcipd:eri0
sync file system
rebooting
boot net ... here the boot from net fails
What am I doing wrong?
Can I still do the installation from the pre-installed disk OS?
I'd rather prefer to do the installation from the initial pre-installed
Solaris on the new box if it's possible.
I have Solaris 8 on CDROM media but it's about 2 years old and I'm
afraid it's not update for the new SPARC III processor or the new
hardware
of the SUNFire 280R.
Any help will be appreciated.
TIA,
Marco
