traffic comparison 'X session v nfs'

OK Dont ask !

Due to way the application works, i have nfs mounts from a db server on the
application server. the two servers are on different sites.

Users access the app server directly and run the app via x sessions.

Traffic is huge accross the wan link. - i am convinced it is the nfs
traffic.

I have asked vendor reason for the nfs and they advise due to the app
design.

I then wish to move the db and app servers to same sites.

However will i reduce my wan traffic by pushing x sessions over the wan
rather than the nfs traffic ? ? I cant move the db servers local to the
users due to minimal space in local commsroom.

Thanks

Laurence
